About the Role
HLTA
Secondary School
Up to £130 Per Day PAYE
London Borough of Greenwich
Immediate Start Available
We are working in partnership with an inspiring SEMH Secondary School in the London Borough of Greenwich who are looking for SEMH HLTA's to join their dedicated team.
The school offers tailor made pathways for students who have found mainstream education difficult and believes that this is not an obstacle to those students having the opportunity to return, either to a mainstream secondary school or further education. The curriculum offers both academic and vocational options dependent on each students' needs.
For staff, they also offer their own de-escalation training (as well as other training and career development opportunities) and there are teacher training options available for those who wish to take that path.
Requirements of a HLTA
- Experience with challenging behaviour – this role would really suit someone who has worked in a PRU or SEMH school, has worked as a Pastoral Officer in a school, or has experience with challenging behaviour as a Youth Worker.
- Experience working to support pupils with physically and emotionally challenging behaviour
- Experience delivering engaging lessons to students
- A resilient personality and an ability to build rapport quickly with staff and students.
- De-escalation training would be a bonus for this role, however, the school do also provide their own specialised de-escalation training
- An interest in mental health and seeing behaviour as a form of communication is essential for this role
What to expect as a HLTA:
- The opportunity to really make a difference to the life of a pupil with SEMH needs.
- Long-term positions available
- The opportunity for a good work-life balance due to school time hours.
- The opportunity to develop your skills as a SEMH Teaching Assistant
- This is a challenging and highly rewarding role which requires a strong and resilient personality and a strong drive to help and support children with additional needs.
