About the SEN School
The school is a specialist SEMH school catering for pupils aged 4 to 11. The students may also have other special educational needs including ASD, ADHD, Sensory issues and SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs.
The class size will be no larger than 7 pupils and will be supported by Teachers, HLTAs and Therapists.
What you can expect as a Occupational Therapy Assistant
As a Occupational Therapy Assistant in this specialist SEND school you will work as part of the specialist therapy multidisciplinary team. As a Occupational Therapy Assistant you will support speech and language therapy and occupational therapy within the classroom setting. You will work with pupils both individually and in groups to support their development of communication skills.
As a Occupational Therapy Assistant you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining therapeutic materials. You will also support the Speech and Language or Occupational Therapist with administration tasks and assist them to develop the therapy programmes.
Occupational Therapy Assistant Requirements
- Experience working in a school setting
- It is desirable that you have knowledge, understanding and experience of speech, language and communication needs
- Good communication skills
- Excellent organisation
