About the Role
Outreach Tutor in Kingston Upon Thames
Monday to Friday 8:30am - 16:00pm (term time only)
Experienced Teaching Assistant / Outreach Tutor Needed for Home and Community-Based Tutoring in Kingston and Richmond
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) ready to take on a new and rewarding challenge? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to work as a tutor for children who are unable to learn in school settings.
Outreach Tutor's Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one teaching and support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Visit homes and public spaces in Kingston and Richmond to deliver personalised educational support.
- Work with children from challenging backgrounds and deprived homes, some of whom may have experienced trauma and anxiety.
- Manage and support children with dysregulated behaviour, fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment.
Outreach Tutor's Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), ideally with a background in SEN.
- Strong understanding of the needs of children with Autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, and SEMH.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to managing challenging behaviour.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to different environments.
- A valid driving licence is preferred due to the nature of the role.
Working Hours and Pay:
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm during term time.
- £110 PAYE per day.
- Weekly payment.
About the Children:
- Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD): Children with SpLD have difficulties with particular aspects of learning, such as reading, writing, or maths, which can include conditions like dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dyspraxia.
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs: Children with SEMH needs may struggle to manage their emotions, experience anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues, and may have difficulty with social interactions.
