Based in a Pupil Referral Unit in East London
I am actively recruiting for a Safeguarding Key Worker for a PRU in East London. This is a varied and highly impactful role working with vulnerable young people and supporting their learning outside of mainstream education.
Involving travel around the borough liaising with students, parents and external agencies, as well as working as a part of a team to run 1:1 or small group interventions and case management, amongst other varied responsibilities.
The ideal Safeguarding Key Worker may have…
- Experience working with vulnerable children at risk of exploitation
- Experience managing large caseloads and liaising with external agencies, families and internal agencies
- A personable manner and comfortable working as part of a team

Experience with speech & language

Hands on experience supporting pupils within a school setting
Familiar with PECs and Makaton
Experience with Primary aged and/or EYFS children
Supported children with needs such as; autism, ADHD, global delay, behaviour challenges
GCSE/A-Levels, Degrees preferred but not essential
Level 3 Health & Social Care / TA Qualification - preferred not essential
Maths & English qualified

What the role looks like:
Full-time classroom teacher role, secondary phase
Teaching a broad, adapted curriculum to small classes
Supported by skilled TAs and pastoral staff who know the students well
You will use restorative, trauma-informed approaches daily
There’s a strong focus on emotional safety, relationships, and belonging

A qualified teacher (QTS or QTLS)
Primary, Secondary, or SEND trained
Someone with experience in SEMH, PRU, or specialist settings
