About the Role

SEN Teacher – Barking & Dagenham
£160–£220 per day PAYE

Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Long-Term Role

“The smallest steps can lead to the biggest breakthroughs.”

In a specialist school in Barking & Dagenham, children with complex needs are learning to connect, grow, and thrive — at their own pace, in their own way. What they need most is a teacher who understands that progress looks different for every child.

This is a setting for pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and autism. Many are non-verbal. Some require medical or physical support. All deserve a teacher who leads with empathy, curiosity, and calm.

We’re looking for someone who teaches with intention — who knows that before learning can happen, trust must come first.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a small class with the support of skilled Learning Support Assistants

  • Plan and deliver a creative, sensory-based curriculum tailored to each child’s needs

  • Use a range of communication strategies (PECS, Makaton, AAC) to support understanding and engagement

  • Work closely with therapists, families, and a compassionate multi-disciplinary team

  • Create a safe, predictable, and nurturing environment that allows students to feel secure and seen

Who we’re looking for:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a passion for inclusive education

  • Experience working with SEN, or a strong desire to learn and grow in this area

  • Emotionally resilient, patient, and reflective in your approach

  • Committed to building strong, respectful relationships with pupils and colleagues alike

This school is more than a workplace — it’s a community built on care, trust, and purpose. If you’re looking to do work that leaves a lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you.

SEN Support Assistant

Havering
North East London
£90 per day
SEN Support Assistant – Key Stage 2 Location: Havering | £90 - £100 per day | PAYE only | Temp to Perm The moment everything changes? It’s rarely loud or dramatic. Sometimes, it’s a quiet moment in the corridor. A glance, a nod, a small act of trust. A child who normally keeps their distance asks if you’ll be back tomorrow. They hand you a scribbled drawing they made just for you. They begin to let you in. If you’ve worked in Key Stage 2, you’ll know exactly what that feels like. By this age, some children already carry heavy experiences - misunderstood behaviours, unmet needs, the weight of being labelled before being heard. But you see beyond that. You notice what others might miss. You listen. You show up. And slowly, they begin to trust you. This Outstanding primary school in Havering takes inclusion seriously. It’s not just a line in a brochure it’s backed by real investment. You’ll be part of a nurturing, skilled support team that meets regularly, reflects honestly, and has the full backing of leadership to put good ideas into practice. They’re looking for someone with: Emotional maturity A calm, steady presence A genuine curiosity about the ‘why’ behind behaviour You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be present, open to learning, and committed to building trust - one day at a time. This is a temp-to-perm role because this school values long-term relationships - not just with pupils, but with the adults who support them.
