About the Role

SEN Teaching Assistant – Havering
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? As a SEN Teaching Assistant looking to join a fantastic school in Havering, you will provide essential support to students and work closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.

Role Overview:

  • Supporting students with a range of SEN needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and speech & language difficulties.

  • Assisting the teacher in delivering tailored learning activities to meet individual learning plans (EHCPs).

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support, ensuring students remain engaged and confident in their learning.

  • Encouraging student independence by using positive reinforcement and adaptive teaching methods.

  • Supporting students in developing their social and emotional skills, creating a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere.

  • Assisting with classroom management, organisation, and lesson preparation to enhance student learning experiences.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, either in a school, nursery, or care setting.

  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and techniques.

  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

  • Relevant qualifications such as a CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential).
