SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Based in the London Borough of Newham
Primary Complex Needs Class within a Mainstream School

We’re on the hunt for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dynamic team in Newham, working with primary-aged students (5-10 years) who have Autism, Global Developmental Delay, and Learning Difficulties. As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you’ll step into a small, close-knit class and provide personalised, hands-on support to children with a range of complex needs. Whether it’s through sensory-based learning, phonics, or everyday activities, you’ll be key in helping them thrive academically and emotionally. From boosting their communication skills to offering one-to-one guidance, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.

Your Key Responsibilities:
- Inspire and support students with Autism, Global Developmental Delay, and Learning Difficulties in a specialised classroom setting.
- Deliver sensory learning activities and phonics programs designed to help children overcome barriers and reach their potential.
- Provide one-to-one and group support that brings the curriculum to life and boosts students' social and communication skills.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to each child’s unique needs.
- Assist with personal care, including toileting and feeding, ensuring each child feels safe and supported.
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where every child feels valued.
About You:
- Experience working with children with Autism, Global Developmental Delay, and Learning Difficulties is a must!
- You’re patient, empathetic, and nurturing, with a genuine passion for helping children with SEN thrive.
- A solid understanding of sensory learning, phonics, and behaviour management strategies is ideal.
- Comfortable with providing personal care assistance.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills—you’re ready to work hand-in-hand with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- You’re committed to safeguarding and the well-being of every child.
