Newham / Stratford / Plaistow / North Woolwich

Long Term Roles
Supporting children or young people with social, emotional mental health needs is one of the most important roles within education. It involves supporting young people that struggle with their daily lives due to childhood trauma, current trauma, mental health, struggles in social settings and special needs.
You are required to be an empathetic, patient, reliable person that understands these students have struggles and their behaviours are not personal but their way of communicating and need help to regulate and understand the emotions they are going through. These students need consistency and routine as they may not have this in their personal lives, you will be there support system.
SEMH schools cohorts are changing meaning that there is a student increase of children with SEN needs that are being masked, leading to mainstream settings not being able to meet their needs causing them to be removed. This then leads to confusion and upset so you need to be prepared for children that are dysregulated and have the ability to support them appropriately.
Now is the time for a lot of new referrals for SEMH/PRU schools meaning that if you're looking for a new role to use your skill set, I want to hear from you.
Apply to this advert and call me on 0203 011 4848 to discuss further.
Outreach Mentor
Waltham ForestNorth East London£130-133 per day PAYE
Are you ready for a unique new challenge?
Do you have experience mentoring within a school setting and are now looking for an exciting new opportunity?
We’re working with an inspiring, therapeutic organisation that operates across London. With a no-exclusion policy, they provide vital support to some of the hardest to reach, highest-risk, and most vulnerable young people.
This role involves working with young people who may have been out of formal education for several years and are not yet ready to learn in a classroom setting. You will play a crucial part in supporting these young people as they join the organisation, taking responsibility for their induction, assessment, and transition over a two-term period.
The young people you’ll be working with often have SEMH and/or ASC diagnoses, along with complex additional needs. Many are at considerable risk of exploitation or have been exposed to violence and trauma. They need someone who can offer stability, understanding, and a therapeutic approach to help them rebuild trust and confidence. Could that person be you?
This organisation has a strong record of success. Many of the young people they support go on to re-enter full-time education or employment, learn to regulate their emotions, and begin to process their experiences.
Example of impact:
One young person with a history of low attendance, multiple exclusions, PTSD, and aggressive behaviour was paired with a specialist mentor. After consistent support and therapeutic intervention, they have transitioned to a specialist school, achieved a 93% attendance rate, and are thriving with a bespoke curriculum that meets their needs.
You could be part of a story like this — making a real and lasting difference in young people’s lives.
Benefits and what the organisation is looking for
What you’ll do:
Create holistic learning plans to support young people’s transition back into education
Work outside of a classroom environment to provide therapeutic, individualised support
Be part of a young person’s journey — from complete disengagement to thriving success
What’s on offer:
Lunch and travel expenses (during working hours) reimbursed
Full-time hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
Travel across London to support multiple students
What you’ll need:
Confidence in managing dysregulated behaviour and understanding the reasons behind it
A trauma-informed approach and passion for therapeutic support
Resilience, empathy, and commitment to helping young people achieve positive outcomes
If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been waiting for, we’d love to hear from you.
