ASD Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time (term-time only)

  • £80 - £90 a day PAYE

 Do you have experience or personal interest in supporting children and young people with Autism? Are you looking for a rewarding role to make a positive impact in our children’s life?

We are working in partnership with a friendly and creative SEN school based in East London. We are hiring a passionate and creative Autism Support Worker to join their support team. This position is full-time (term time only) and is to start immediately.

 

Highlights:

  • Autism Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting children and young people with Autism.
  • 8:30am - 4:30pm; Monday to Friday during term-time
  • East London
  • Immediate Start
  • Proactively engaging and interacting with children and young people through play-based and sensory-related activities in classroom settings
  • Providing a creative and fun learning environment by utilising music, arts, drama, and dance!

 

Ideal Autism Teaching Assistant:

  • Has experience working with children and young people with special needs, particularly with Autism.
  • Has personal interests in supporting children and young people with special needs
  • A positive, proactive and patient individual who has a can-do attitude and is willing to learn
  • A team player and has great communication skills
  • Being able to build up good working relationships with students and staff

 

Autism Support Worker's Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children and young people with Autism
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning, preparing and delivering learning activities as well as monitoring and assessing children’s achievement and progress
  • Actively involved in a wide range of activities, promoting the physical, cognitive, cultural, social and emotional wellbeing of the pupils
  • Actively interacting with children through play-based and sensory related activities
  • Students are supported by a multidisciplinary team including Physiotherapists, Art Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists. Being able to use Makaton (sign language) or PECs is ideal.
