Full-Time, Term Time Only

9am - 4pm

 

Are you a caring and passionate individual with a heart for special education? We invite you to become an essential part of our lovely SEN school in Peckham, South East London. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of children with complex needs, particularly those with Autism / Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and medical needs.

Our SEN school is in the heart of Peckham, South East London, easily accessible by public transport and for car drivers. The school is dedicated to providing a warm and nurturing environment for children aged 11-19 with diverse, complex needs, including significant Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN) and some who are non-verbal.

 

Job Details:

  • Position: Autism Teaching Assistant
  • Working Hours: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Salary: £425 - £475 PAYE Per Week
  • Responsibilities: Supporting children with play-based and sensory-based learning activities, focusing on literacy, numeracy, life skills, and preparing for independent living.
  • Facilities: The school has incredible amenities, including a hydrotherapy swimming pool.
  • Emphasis on Creativity: The school has an emphasis on creative learning, such as arts & crafts, sports, drama, and music, to enrich the students' experiences.

 

Your Role and Responsibilities as an Autism Teaching Assistant: 

  • Providing students one-on-one and small group support, tailoring activities to their individual needs.
  • Encouraging and facilitating sensory-based and play-based learning experiences.
  • Assisting with personal care and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers and therapists to create an inclusive and engaging learning atmosphere.
  • Promoting independence and life skills development in our students.
  • Participating in a variety of creative activities, from arts and crafts to sports and music.

 

What We're Looking For: We are seeking individuals who are passionate about special education, eager to learn and possess a positive mindset. Experience in working with children with Autism or complex needs is an advantage, but we welcome newcomers who are dedicated to making a difference.
