Behaviour Mentor - Barnet - Immediate - Long-term position

Do you have a passion and talent for supporting children and young people with additional learning needs and mental health disorders?

 

Are you keen to make a difference to the lives of children and young people whilst building your experience and furthering your career in SEND/SEMH?

 

I am working with a North West London SEMH School who are looking for an engaging and passionate Behaviour Mentor for a KS3 and 4 class. The children attending this school will have an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) for SEMH and sometimes Autism. I am looking to speak to professional and committed Behaviour Mentors, even if your experience is informal/voluntary, we want to hear from you!

 

Behaviour Mentor requirements

  • Essential - Passion for working with young people who require additional support in order to access education and social development
  • Essential - Resilience, patience, calm manner
  • Essential - Experience of working with Autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties and learning difficulties, or experience with SEMH, trauma, sensory processing, social communication
  • Essential - Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships
  • Beneficial - Youth Mentor/Worker experience
  • Beneficial - Passion/experience for animal care/horticulture
  • Beneficial - Passion/experience for mechanics or construction

 

What you can expect in this role

  • You will become part of the school's support team, your role is essential to the development of the children in your care.
  • The school is a positive place for children who have attachment disorders, psychiatric conditions which makes emotional attachment to others very difficult.
  • Children with attachment disorders are likely to struggle academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviourally, Therefore, patience, consistency, and resilience are essential for this work.
  • This role requires a patient and resilient Behaviour Mentor to work with very challenging and sometimes physically challenging behaviour
  • For aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SALTs, Counsellors, and Social Workers, these positions will offer relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path

Pay

  • We understand that pay is extremely important and it must be clear and simple! For that reason we have chosen to pay our staff via PAYE only. Quoted rates are gross pay and your pay will never involve employer's NI deductions or admin fees. 
  • Just as roles vary, so will the remuneration depending on the role requirements and your experience. You will often see these roles advertised as daily rates, please note that we pay PAYE only and rates will vary from £70 - £94 per day, depending on the role and your experience. Full Time Equivalent salaries are therefore £16,640 - £23,040 Per Annum, please bear in mind that all school based work will be term time only.
