Are you an ambitious SEN Teacher?

Perhaps you’re a mainstream teacher but seeking a transition into a specialist setting?

I am seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a Complex Needs school in Hemel Hempstead, which caters for children who recquire specialist care and education.

Students here have a range of needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition, Social and Communication Difficulties, and Severe Learning Disabilities.

What am I looking for in a SEN Teacher?

· Experience teaching primary ages

· QTS or equivalent

· Experience working with different kinds of SEN and strong behaviour management

· The appropriate SEN Teacher must be able to implement the SEN curriculum

· The ability to build and maintain lasting relationships

· Enthusiasm, engagement and proactivity is crucial as a SEN Teacher

· Good understanding of both OFSTED and the school’s values and the standards required

· As a SEN Teacher, you should have a strong passion to change the lives of young people

Duties of a SEN Teacher?

· Plan and teach well-structured learning to assigned classes of pupils with complex needs, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work

· Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment

· Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of individual pupils ensuring that individualised programmes/resources/specialist equipment are in place for all pupils

· To support individual pupil’s needs with a range of specialist teaching and learning strategies (such as TEACCH, use of AAC – including Makaton, Sensory Integration, Intensive Interaction and Multi-sensory Learning & Play), ensuring that teaching and learning is engaging, motivating, differentiated and person-centred

· Work with other staff to plan and provide for a creative, stimulating and quality curriculum for all pupils which supports a range of learning styles and helps to develop pupil’s independence
