Development Tutor

1:1 ASD Learning Mentor

Permanent role - £15,000 - £20,000 p/a

About the School

The small and friendly school is based in South London, Croydon with easy transport links and parking available for drivers. The school provides education to students secondary age students with social, emotional, mental health needs and other learning needs including Autism and are dedicated to improving the lives of children with SEND and their families. The school has been consistently graded as good and has an exceptional leadership team.

 

The School's Ethos

This is an environment in which students are supported using Reality Therapy, a type of psychotherapy that helps individuals identify their basic primary needs which are not met, set realistic goals, resolve conflicts, and connect with others in a way that helps them feel a sense of belongingness and meaning with them. They take a restorative approach to learning which is built around respect and understanding consequences of choices. An extremely positive approach that encourages self-regulation and therefore there is no restraint used within this school.

 

About the role as Development Tutor

As a Development Tutor, you will be coaching a child in year 8 with autism on a 1:1 basis, both in and out of the classroom. You will help the Class Teacher to deliver 1:1 teaching and support. You will develop your skills working with students with SEMH and autism and receive specialist training surrounding the school's ethos.

 

Development Tutor requirements

  • Passionate about supporting students with SEND
  • Committed to personal development and learning specialist skills
  • Proactive and flexible
  • Ability to be a team player and build rapport quickly
  • Ideally someone with previous SEN experience, either formal or informal
