Lead Teaching Assistant

Location - Sutton

Pay - £100 to £120 per day (PAYE) depending on experience.

I am working with an outstanding PMLD/SLD school in Sutton which is seeking a LEAD Teaching Assistant to support the development of the students. This school offers pupils a fantastic educational provision and a caring environment in which they strive to reach their full potential. They work with young people aged between 3-19 who present with severe and complex learning difficulties and learners with an additional diagnosis of autism and/or physical/sensory difficulties. They are seeking a lead teaching assistant who would be working with a team of teaching assistants to work in giving their students the best education.

Lead Teaching Assistant requirements

  • Essential - Passion for working with young people who require additional support in order to access education and social development
  • Beneficial - Experience of working with Autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties and learning difficulties, or experience with SEMH, trauma, sensory processing, social communication
  • Beneficial - Youth Mentor/Worker experience
  • Essential - Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships
  • Essential - Ability to work autonomously
  • Essential - Level 3 qualification in education/ teaching or Learning, I would also be interested in speaking to you if you have a foundation degree in some kind of education also

What you can expect as a Lead Teaching Assistant

  • Lead Teaching Assistant roles will vary from day to day, you will be expected to use your initiative and respond calmly in challenging situations
  • For aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SALTs, Counsellors, and Social Workers, these positions will offer relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path
  • Continued Professional Development - SEND schools and APs are continually training their staff to help them support their children's needs, you will become an expert in your field
  • You will have an opportunity to make a huge social impact, as a Behaviour Mentor you could change the path of someone’s life!

Pay

  • We understand that pay is extremely important and it must be clear and simple! For that reason we have chosen to pay our staff via PAYE only. Quoted rates are gross pay and your pay will never involve employer's NI deductions or admin fees.
  • Just as roles vary, so will the remuneration depending on the role requirements and your experience. You will often see these roles advertised as daily rates, please note that we pay PAYE only and rates will vary from £90 - £110 per day, depending on the Lead Behaviour Mentor role and your experience. Full Time Equivalent salaries are therefore £18,792 - £26,622 Per Annum, please bear in mind that all school based work will be term time only.
