I am looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our incredible school in Wandsworth!
About the School:
- Caters to children aged 11 to 19 with high-functioning Autism and associated learning difficulties, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
- Located in Mitcham, offers excellent public transport links from central London, as well as an on-site car park for convenience.
- Focuses on providing a therapeutic and creative learning environment to support the students' unique needs and foster their growth.
The Role:
- As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with the students, providing support and interaction.
- Collaborate with teachers and the therapy team, including occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, to ensure each student receives the tailored support they require.
- Full-time hours from 8:30am to 4pm, with ongoing training opportunities and excellent prospects for career progression.
Behaviour Traits of High-Functioning Autism and SEMH Needs:
- Students may exhibit difficulties with social interactions, such as challenges with understanding social cues and regulating emotions in social situations.
- Sensory sensitivities and emotional dysregulation may contribute to difficulties in managing stressors and responding to environmental stimuli.
- Some students may display challenging behaviours, such as aggression, defiance, or withdrawal, as a means of coping with their emotions or communicating their needs.
- Executive functioning difficulties, including impulsivity and difficulties with planning and organisation, may impact students' ability to navigate daily tasks and academic activities.
