Role: Nurture Teacher

Key stage: Primary ASD and SEMH

When: ASAP– Temp to perm opportunities

Pay: Depending on QTS and experience

This is a wonderful opportunity for primary school educators who are passionate about SEND and inclusive education to join a truly inclusive school as a specialist Nurture Teacher!

We are looking for a Nurture Teacher for a specialist SEMH school based in Hackney, The school caters for students who are unable to access mainstream education. The school caters for students who have very complex SEMH and sometimes a dual diagnosis of autism. This specialist teaching role to start ASAP. The school are looking for a nurturing teacher to join their team working within primary, they have some year 7 students who have missed out on a chunk of education so are progressing at a primary level.

We support Education providers that educate children and young people who for many reasons cannot access any other formal educational settings – these are the most vulnerable, at risk and hard to reach in our community. Understanding their SEMH needs must be met before any academic development can happen. Understanding their SEMH needs is essential in these roles and we are seeking individuals who can make a positive impact.

What would the ideal Nurture Teacher look like?

  • Primary teaching experience
  • Experience of teaching ASD children and children with complex SEMH, even if it is in a mainstream setting with high % SEND
  • Experience of Attention Autism will be highly beneficial
  • Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach
  • Experienced and qualified teachers with QTS/QTLS is beneficial.
  • Phonics experience
  • A nurturing, patient, empathetic and holistic approach
  • Passion for teaching SEN children is essential!

NB: Although experience teaching in SEND specialist settings is beneficial I would also love to hear from teachers who are interested in taking their first steps into SEN.
