Parker Smith Inclusion is an ethical, people-focused SEND recruitment consultancy. We have several Occupational Therapist vacancies available, and we are actively looking to connect with individuals looking to work in paediatrics or education. We want to speak to professionals passionate about working with vulnerable children and young people with highly complex needs.

I am looking to speak with Occupational Therapists (band 5+) who are looking to work in a school-based postion, ideally you would have experience working with paediatrics, however our schools are open to meeting with any Occupational Therapists who have experience supporting children and young people or just a passion for working with children.

About the role

A school-based Occupational Therapist aims to help vulnerable children and young people be as independent as possible. You will look at the whole child, tackling individual tasks and helping children find ways to do what they need and want to do. You will also liaise closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and teaching/support staff. You will engage with the children and young people within the school in innovative, helpful therapeutic and meaningful activities, supporting them in learning and reaching their full potential.

Occupational Therapist Requirements

  • You must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy degree and be HCPC registered

  • You will need solid experience, ideally working with highly vulnerable children and young people or children with Autism/ASC and learning disabilities

  • Overseas-trained and newly qualified Band 5 Occupational Therapists are welcome to apply!

  • You will be paid in line with NHS band scales; however, please note that sometimes your salary will be pro-rated as it is term-time only. The working hours are 8:30 am to 4 pm, so for our OTs looking for work-life balance, this is a huge benefit. This also benefits our OTs who work privately or like to have free time to work on other projects!

  • Available Monday - Friday

  • Passionate about your role within the school and have a pro-active and can-do attitude

  • Able to self-manage and work in a team or independently
