School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT)

*** Permanent Contract; Full-Time (term time only)

Are you an Occupational Therapist (OT)? Are you registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)? Do you have paediatric experience or are looking to switch into paediatric occupational therapy?

We are working with a number of schools across North East London who are seeking Occupational Therapists to join their teams. We want to speak to professionals passionate about working with vulnerable children and young people with highly complex needs. If you have experience working within education or paediatrics or are looking to transition into education/paediatric occupational therapy this could be the role for you!

About the role

A school-based Occupational Therapist aims to help vulnerable children and young people be as independent as possible. You will look at the whole child, tackling individual tasks and helping children find ways to do what they need and want to do. You will also liaise closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, and teaching/support staff. You will engage with the children and young people within the school in innovative, helpful therapeutic and meaningful activities, supporting them in learning and reaching their full potential.

Requirements

  • You must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy degree and be HCPC registered
  • You will need solid experience, ideally working with highly vulnerable children and young people or children with Autism/ASC and learning disabilities
  • Overseas-trained and Band 6 and above Occupational Therapists are welcome to apply
  • Band 5 Occupational Therapists who are looking to secure their first Band 6 role are also welcome to apply!
  • In line with NHS band scales, however, please note that sometimes your salary will be pro-rated as it is term-time only. The working hours are 8:30am to 4pm, so for our OTs looking for work-life balance, this is a huge benefit. This also benefits our OTs who work privately or like to have free time to work on other projects!
