About the School:

I am working with an exceptional SEN specialist school where a dedicated team is committed to providing amazing educational opportunities for young adults with severe learning difficulties. The caring staff works tirelessly to create personalized education plans for each student. Using a variety of fun teaching techniques, therapy programs, and an exciting curriculum, they help students achieve their goals for adulthood as outlined in their EHCPs. They are ready to support and empower every student on their journey! You will be a part of a team ready to support young people aged 19-25 with moderate, severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties, including autistic student.

 

Your Role and Responsibilities as a PMLD Teaching Assistant:

  • A relevant degree in childcare, health or social care at level 2 (e.g. Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools)
  • Have experience or a passion for working with children with SEN
  • Preferably already have training or experience in non-verbal communication (e.g., Makaton, PECS) but with a willingness to learn would be essential.
  • Be flexible, proactive, and patient
  • Exhibit nurturing and caring qualities in your approaches
  • Communicate effectively within a team
  • Be open to providing personal care
