This specialist school offers a holistic approach to education for children aged 5 - 19 with Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs (SEMH). Often working below age-related expectations, these children need a teacher who will be creative, flexible and dedicated to supporting them as they go through school life. Supported by a team of pastoral leads, specialist teaching assistants and a headteacher who understands additional needs themself, you will need to adapt the national curriculum for working in small classes of 8-10 students. In addition to a competitive salary, the school offers ongoing training and development opportunities to help you progress in your career.

 

The Ideal PRU Science Teacher:

  • Must have a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or QTS)
  • Be able to teach a mixture of GCSE and SATs Science as all children are working below age related expectations
  • Experience working in a special education setting with children who have complex mental health needs and learning difficulties.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be patient and empathetic.
  • Must be resilient and reliable!
