£150 - £250 per day PAYE

 

Based in the London Borough of Merton, this incredible college for students, aged 14-16 years old on the Autism Spectrum, are seeking a qualified teacher to join their team. This newly-refurbished building was designed with the needs of children with Autism in mind, ensuring there are large open classrooms and therapy spaces for students in KS2, KS3 and KS4. There is also a calm, landscaped outdoor area with an all weather pitch as well as specialist facilities for IT, food technology and science experiments.

Working in small classes of maximum 10 pupils, you will be supporting by 2 teaching assistants to mainly cover the Science curriculum. Whilst experience teaching Science is preferable, there will be a lot of support with the curriculum so this is not necessary. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with children and making a positive impact on their lives. What We Are looking for in an SEMH and Autism Teacher

  • QTS qualification or similar
  • Therapeutic teaching approach
  • Able to deliver core subjects at KS3 level
  • Ability to teach core subjects ideally with a Science specialism
  • Experience of teaching with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies
  • Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach
  • Experience with SEMH, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication teaching background
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students
  • Experience of working with disengaged teenagers is essential.
