We are working with an ‘outstanding’ mainstream primary school in East London who are seeking Early Years SEN Teaching Assistants to be joining their friendly and welcoming team within the SEN Department.

Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant requirements

  • Ideally have experience supporting children with SEN this can be work experience or personal experience
  • Graduates with limited experience are encouraged to apply
  • A passion to be working with young people with special education needs
  • CCAHE Level 3 would be desirable
  • Some of the roles may require personal care

What to expect from the role as Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant;

  • As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting a child with special educational needs within early years of the school. This will be within a 1:1 role, however this may vary, and you will have the opportunity to work with other children within the class
  • For aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SALTs, Counsellors, and Social Workers, these positions will offer relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path
  • They have a speech and language provision where you can have the opportunity to work alongside the Speech and Language Therapist
  • Working in a long-term role with permanent opportunities
  • Opportunities to work over the summer in the schools summer camps

Pay

  • We understand that pay is extremely important and it must be clear and simple! For that reason we have chosen to pay our staff via PAYE only. Quoted rates are gross pay and your pay will never involve employer's NI deductions or admin fees. 
  • Just as roles vary, so will the remuneration depending on the role requirements and your experience. You will often see these roles advertised as daily rates, please note that we pay PAYE only and rates will vary from £80-100 per day, depending on the role and your experience.

A fantastic supportive school I'm working with in the heart of Newham are seeking an Early Years Practitioner to start with them in September 2025 to support their ever growing early years department. As the role is within early years the children could not have a diagnosis but could display needs such as autism, speech and language challenges, pre-verbal, non-verbal, global delay, EAL and learning difficulties. You will be working under the guidance of the class teacher and colleagues, encouraging children's development, independance, self-reliance and problem solving skills. The children will be in the department all day, it is a very busy, hands on role that will require and enthusiastic, energetic, creative individual. This role will require you to be involved with outdoor activities such as swimming, educational visits etc, it would be beneficial if you already have first aid training. Some key work for the role would be: Oversee the introduction and settling in process for children and families into the school/centre, including initial home visit with parent and giving initial information on school/centre policies. Responsibility in planning, tracking and evaluating. Set individual targets and monitor progress. Carry out a full record keeping programme for each child according to school/centre policy. Be the first contact for key parents. Set targets and review IEPs, in collaboration with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). Personal care, with assistance from colleagues.
