Specialist SEN Teacher
Location: London Borough of Newham
Start Date: January 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £35,000 - £60,000

About the Role
We are seeking a Specialist SEN Teacher to join my schools in Newham from January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of children with SEN.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with colleagues and external professionals.
- Use innovative strategies to support children with Autism, sensory needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
- Manage and support dysregulated behaviours with a calm and consistent approach, employing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s learning.
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to support pupil progress and well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to regular reviews and reports.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- Experience working with children with a range of SEN, including Autism, dysregulated behaviour, sensory needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
- A strong understanding of SEN frameworks, including EHCPs and relevant legislation.
- Excellent behaviour management skills with a compassionate and proactive approach.
- A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to inspire and motivate pupils with additional needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
