About the Role

SEND Teacher – PMLD & Complex Needs

Location: London Borough of Barking and Dagenham
Start Date: September 2025 (Permanent)
Salary: £36,000 – £54,000 + SEN Allowance

Every child deserves to be seen. Every teacher deserves to be supported. This is a school where both happen—every day.

We are working in partnership with an exceptional special school in Barking and Dagenham, seeking a passionate SEND Teacher to join their dedicated team this September. This is more than a teaching role—it's an opportunity to help children with profound and complex needs thrive in a nurturing, well-resourced environment.

The school supports pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and a range of associated needs. With purpose-built facilities and a highly collaborative staff team, you’ll be well-equipped to provide the personalised, meaningful education these learners deserve.

Why This Role Stands Out

A Purpose-Built Learning Environment
Every space has been designed to support sensory learning, communication, and independence. You’ll have access to specialist equipment and structured routines that make impactful teaching possible.

A Team That Works as One
You’ll join a stable, experienced team of teachers, therapists, and support staff who understand the power of true collaboration. Leaders are visible, approachable, and wholly committed to a culture of respect and inclusion.

Tailored Professional Development
Whether you're an experienced SEND practitioner or transitioning from mainstream, you’ll be supported with bespoke CPD, peer coaching, and regular learning opportunities designed to help you grow into your best professional self.

A Culture That Prioritises Wellbeing
This is a school that values people. Staff wellbeing is central to their ethos, with robust support systems, wellbeing initiatives, and a genuine appreciation for the difference you make.

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)

  • A real passion for working with children with complex needs, including PMLD and sensory profiles

  • A creative, patient, and adaptive teaching style

  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to inclusive education

  • Experience with or a desire to learn about communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration strategies

In Return, You’ll Receive:

  • A permanent, full-time role in a forward-thinking special school

  • Access to high-quality facilities and expert support teams

  • Continuous development opportunities tailored to your career goals

  • The chance to be part of a wider SEND community supported by Parker Smith Inclusion

  • PAYE pay structure – no hidden deductions or umbrella fees

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a school that truly understands what inclusion means—and lives it. Whether you're already working in SEND or are curious about where your teaching journey could take you next, we’re here to help you find your fit.
