As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students and teachers to promote positive behaviour and create a safe and conducive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of behaviour management techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to students exhibiting challenging behaviour, helping them to develop coping strategies and alternative behaviours.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement behaviour management plans and interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Lead small group sessions focusing on social skills development, conflict resolution, and anger management.
- Monitor student behaviour throughout the school day, intervening as necessary to de-escalate conflicts and address disruptive behaviour.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on behaviour support strategies.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and workshops related to behaviour management and student support.
- Maintain accurate records of student behaviour and progress, documenting interventions and outcomes.
Requirements:
- Not essential, but ideally have a Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, or related field.
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
