Behavioural Support Teaching Assistant

  • Daily Rate £80 - £100 (£400 - £500 per week)

Do you care about children's well-being? Do you know anyone who has additional needs but struggled when they were in education? Are you passionate about supporting children who need help? Are you an aspiring child psychologist, educational psychologist, therapist, or teacher? Are you looking to gain more experience working in a school that specialises in supporting children who have Autism/ASC and associated learning disabilities?

One of our schools is actively looking for a Behavioural Support Teaching Assistant to join them on a full-time long-term contract basis as soon as possible. This is a term-time only position, and there are possibilities to become permanent. School hours are 8:30am until 4pm, and unfortunately, we cannot provide part-time or flexible work options.

About the needs

  • All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and have been diagnosed with Autism/ASC, Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), and Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
  • Likely to have Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Could be non-verbal and require alternative communication
  • Have difficulties with social skills
  • Need support with daily activities including feeding and toileting
  • Displays challenging behaviour such as biting, scratching and spitting
  • Some have mobility needs and are wheelchair users

  • Provides individualised and creative curriculum to students who have been diagnosed with Autism, Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), and Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)

About you

We don't need any qualifications for you to be able to work in this school. You should be positive and not afraid of challenges. You should understand children's backgrounds and be able to build trusting relationships. You will need to manage behaviour in positive ways and support children to learn. You are well-organised and have clear communication skills. You may have personal interests or experience supporting children and young people with Autism/ASC and any additional needs.
