Communication Support Worker – BSL Level 2 Teaching Support

Are you passionate about supporting deaf children with their learning and communication needs?

Are you BSL level 2 qualified with a competent level of fluency?

Are you keen to further your BSL communication skills in a dedicated provision for deaf children?

I am actively seeking an engaging Communication Support Worker / LSA with BSL Level 2 for a specialist deaf provision in a school in South London.

About the provision for deaf children

The provision is based in an inclusive school in South London who are incredibly passionate and dedicated to enabling friendships between deaf and hearing children.

The larger school team outside of the provision are passionate about BSL and many hold a sign language qualification, many parents are also keen to learn and promote the school’s passion for learning to sign.

The school is so committed to the wider schools use of sign language that ALL children have sign language lesson every week.

What you can expect as a CSW – BSL specialist TA / LSA

  • Experience of working in an inclusive mainstream school with a deaf provision
  • To be part of a fantastic deaf support team who run a variety of deaf awareness events including BSL recognition week and many more
  • Being part of wider school community with a commitment to signing
  • Excellent experience and training for aspiring Teachers and of the deaf, SEN Teachers and Speech and language Therapists

CSW BSL Specialist TA/LSA requirements:

  • BSL Level 2 (Signature or iBSL accredited qualification).
  • Good level of fluency
  • Passionate about inclusion

Although experience supporting children specialist deaf schools/provisions/ is certainly beneficial I would also love to hear from individuals who hold BSL level 2 and are looking to take their first step into education settings so please get in touch!
