About the CAHMS school setting..
This specific school offers education in a safe and secure environment for those who may be in-patients at the hospital. The children and young people who attend this school have a variety of complex needs which can include but is not limited to SEMH, ASC, Eating disorders, self harm, trauma, depression. The school has been rated "outstanding" for consecutive years. the school day runs from 9am - 3pm and as well as lessons the school makes time for therapeutic hobbies and activities. There is an emphasis on creating a comfortable routine to help students with all aspects of health and recovery. Most students previous schooling will have been severely disrupted and the children and young people will have very low self esteem, the school strive to transition the young people back into a mainstream setting.
The History Teacher role and requirements
As a full or part time History Teacher you will be responsible for delivering History up to GCSE level across the school, both in group and 1:1 sessions. Ideally you will have experience teaching children with SEND and complex needs but the school are also open to empathetic and nurturing mainstream teachers who want to make a difference in a more complex specialist setting. Teachers at this specialist setting are required to hold QTS / QTLS or equivalent
