Are you aware of the Choice Theory developed by Dr William Glasser?
I am working with one of the first SEN Secondary Schools in the UK whose ethos is based on this theory which believes and teaches that almost all behaviour is internal rather than driven by external forces and we are motivated to satisfy five needs in life. Survival, belonging, power, freedom, and fun. All members of staff at this SEN School will complete training in this fantastic theory to help them support the SEN students and contribute to the school’s aspirational and empowering movement. They are currently looking to appoint an English Teacher to join their permanent staff team ASAP.
Does this English Teacher role sound interesting to you?
- A school that encourages and educates SEN students about leading an independent and healthy lifestyle by offering free, nutritious breakfasts and lunches and encouraging the pupils to take turns in washing up and clearing away after meals
- Students learning valuable life skills that will be essential to them in the future, such as learning how to cook for themselves which promotes independence and gives them confidence in their own abilities as well as budgeting money
- Recognises that we all learn differently, and each SEN student is individual, so flexibility is key, and education is tailored to the pupils’ needs
- As their English Teacher, you will inspire learning and support students to pursue a fresh start from past mistakes
- A nurturing family feel with a dedicated and supportive Headteacher
- Extra Support staff in your classroom so each of the individual student’s requirements can be met
- Communication with parents and carers on the progress of students’ personal development as well as academics as both equally as important
