Interim Headteacher – SEMH - ASAP - Contract until end of academic year

The school is well-informed on neurodiversity, emotional, sensory and physical needs, relationships and attachment. They demonstrate inclusive, strengths-based practice and the resilient development of every child is at the core of their ethos. The school teaches primary students with SEMH needs and/or ASC.

The school continues to have very high expectations of hard work to reach the full potential of all of their students. 

About the Interim Headteacher role

This is a long term contract role until the end of the academic year and you will join a SLT team consisting of an Executive Headteacher and a Deputy Headteacher 

Highlighting a select few of your Interim Headteacher responsibilities, you will; ensure the curriculum is delivered in a nurturing way, develop and coordinate interventions to support therapeutic learning, collate individual pupil data, provide professional guidance to teaching staff and oversee the assessment of learning needs. As you would expect, this list is non-exhaustive, and PS Inclusion are more than happy to expand on duties if required.

Interim Headteacher Criteria

Education and Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher (holds QTS)
  • SENCO and NPQSL  desirable  
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in education

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ teaching experience post qualification and minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience.
  • The highest expectations of pupils with SEND and the staff that work with them and oneself.
  • Recent proven experience as an outstanding primary practitioner/teacher.
  • Membership of SLT or additional responsibilities demonstrating the management of staff.
  • Experience of liaising with LA SEN Teams
  • Experience of supporting neurodiverse children or with ASC and/or SEMH and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns.
  • Demonstrable achievement in improving learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Safeguarding & Child Protection Procedures.
