MLD/SLD specialist school

We are looking for a SEN Teacher for a specialist MLD therapeutic school based in North West London. The school caters for students who are unable to access mainstream education and has a therapeutic approach to teaching and learning with an onsite Therapy Team! The class sizes are very small and focus on the individual needs of students who have moderate to severe SEN including Down's Syndrome, SpLD, Autism, and ADHD.

We support Education providers that educate children and young people who for many reasons cannot thrive in mainstream educational settings. Understanding their additional needs is essential in these roles and we are seeking individuals who can make a positive impact through their passion for inclusive education.

What We Are looking for - Therapeutic SEN Teacher

  • Therapeutic teaching approach
  • Experienced SEN teacher with both secondary and primary teaching experience, ideally
  • Experience of teaching MLD or SLD is a must, even if it is in a mainstream setting with high % SEND
  • Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach
  • Experienced and qualified teachers with QTS/QTLS ideally. Those who are experienced unqualified, passionate SEND teachers will also be considered
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with disengaged students
  • Passion for teaching SEN children is essential!

What you can expect from this Therapeutic SEN Teacher role

  • To teach in a setting with a likeminded team who are equally as dedicated to the learning and personal development of young people with additional needs
  • Excellent facilities in a brand new fit for purpose school building.
  • Experience working in specialist therapeutic setting.
  • Working with Multidisciplinary therapy teams.
  • Extensive specialist training from SEN Specialists
  • Most importantly a genuine feeling of community amongst staff!

Therapeutic SEN Teacher Requirements

  • Although this particular role requires QTS/QTLS we want to hear from all SEN Teachers no matter what your qualification is!
  • The passion to teach and inspire young people during a crucial stage of their personal and academic development.
  • A nurturing, patient, empathetic and holistic approach

Although experience teaching in SEND specialist settings is beneficial I would also love to hear from teachers who are interested in taking their first steps into SEN.
