Are you passionate about teaching students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)?

Are you an experienced English Teacher with a background in SEND settings, or currently teaching in mainstream and seeking a transition into an SEND environment?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

About the School

We are seeking a Lead SEN English Teacher for a specialist Autism school based in Hounslow, West London. This welcoming school caters for students who are unable to access mainstream education and have additional needs, including ASC and ADHD. The school excels in educating students who may be school-phobic or have been out of education for a period of time.

We support education providers who serve children and young people unable to access formal educational settings for various reasons. These students are some of the most vulnerable and at-risk in our community. Understanding and addressing their Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is crucial before any academic progress can be made.

We seek individuals who can positively impact these students' lives.

Your Role as a Lead SEN English Teacher

  • Therapeutic Teaching Approach: Employ strategies that support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Leadership Experience: Serve as a role model and support communication with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach.
  • Relationship Building: Establish strong and meaningful connections with vulnerable students.
  • Specialist Training: Access extensive training from ASC specialists and work with multidisciplinary therapy teams.

What You Can Expect

  • Deliver a high-quality and engaging curriculum for students in Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4.
  • Join a like-minded team dedicated to the learning and personal development of young people.
  • Gain experience working in specialist therapeutic settings.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training.

Requirements

  • QTS/QTLS is required for this role, but we welcome applications from all qualified teachers.
  • A passion for teaching and inspiring young people during a crucial stage of their development.
  • A nurturing, patient, empathetic, and holistic approach.
  • Experience in SEND specialist settings is beneficial, but we also welcome those looking to take their first steps into this field.
