Lead Speech and Language Therapist
WestminsterNorth West LondonTop Band 7 - Top Band 8a
Lead Speech & Language Therapist – Band 8
Central London (Clinic-based) | Part time or Full time
Start date: Flexible - ASAP
Helping children find their voice, and helping families feel heard, is work filled with depth, care and purpose.
This long-established paediatric therapy service has been supporting children and families for over 20 years. Rooted in sensory integration and evidence-based practice, they have built a strong reputation for thoughtful, holistic therapy and genuine collaboration. Their ethos is simple; high-quality intervention, a warm and welcoming culture, and unwavering commitment to each child’s potential.
They are now ready to expand their offer.
We are looking for a Lead Speech & Language Therapist (Band 8) to shape, grow and lead a dedicated SaLT service within an already well-established paediatric clinic. This isn’t just about joining a service. It’s about building one. With the backing of an experienced OT team, a loyal client base and a collaborative leadership group.
You might already be leading a small team and feel ready for more ownership. You might be a highly experienced Senior/Highly Specialist Therapist who knows you’re ready to step into a true leadership remit.
The role
Working from their welcoming central London clinic, you will:
Lead the development of the speech therapy service, shaping pathways, standards and models of delivery
Hold a specialist paediatric caseload (e.g. autism, DLD, speech sound disorders, social communication needs, early language)
Collaborate closely with the established OT team, co-creating multidisciplinary plans that honour sensory, motor, communication and emotional needs
Design and refine systems and processes for triage, assessments, therapy blocks, review and discharge
Provide clinical supervision and leadership to SaLT colleagues as the service grows
Deliver training and workshops for parents, schools and professionals
Clinic-based work is at the heart of the role, with scope to include remote work as the service expands.
The environment
You will be joining:
An experienced, SI-informed OT team with strong clinical expertise
A genuinely multidisciplinary culture where professionals work together
A leadership team who value reflective practice, CPD and thoughtful growth
A service that sees the whole family, not just the presenting need, and places collaboration at the centre
It’s collaborative. It’s curious. And it’s kind.
About you
You will likely:
Be an experienced Band 8 (or strong Band 7 ready to step up) HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist
Have substantial paediatric experience, ideally including autism, neurodevelopmental needs and complex communication profiles
Be confident with assessment, differential diagnosis and evidence-based intervention
Have experience supervising others and contributing to service design
Enjoy thinking at system level; pathways, outcomes, quality, family experience
Value neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice
Most importantly, you’ll be excited by the opportunity to shape a service, building something new on top of an already strong, respected foundation.
If you feel you have the experience, ideas and vision to join us on this journey, please contact Emilie by emailing emilie@psinclusion.co.uk or call 020 3011 4848.
SENDCo - Part or Full Time
HaveringNorth East London£254 - £290 per day PAYE
SENDCo (Part time 3 days, full time considered)
Salary: MPS6 - UPS3
Start: January 2026 preferred, Havering
Initial 1 to 2 term contract with potential for permanent contract
Make your mark in an ambitious, inclusive, and supportive primary school in Havering as their new SENDCo. A school where SEND provision is respected, supported, and central to everything they do. Systems are strong, the team is dedicated and the leadership understands what a SENDCo needs to thrive.
This is a largely non teaching role, giving you the time and space to focus on what matters: strategic direction, high quality provision and meaningful support for children and families. Three days per week is the current structure, but four or five days will be considered for the right candidate. There are no regular class teaching responsibilities, though you may provide occasional one to one or small group support. With a capable SENDCo Assistant working alongside you, you can concentrate on strategic leadership, knowing the day-to-day provision is in expert hands.
The pupil cohort is diverse, the team of support staff is well established, and the SEND systems are strong. Staff collaborate with one another, keeping the children at the heart of every decision, within a culture that is both supportive and purposeful.
Whether you are a qualified SENDCo, working towards the qualification or an experienced SEND practitioner ready to step up, the school is open minded and focused on finding the right person. Key qualities include strong organisation, clear communication, confidence in supporting a range of needs and a calm, child centred approach.
Salary is competitive and reflective of experience and qualifications, with candidates considered on MPS6 to UPS3.
This is a chance to step into a school that values you, a supportive team and dedicated resources, and a role where you can make a real difference and the potential to grow into a permanent position.
If you are looking for a SENDCo role where you can lead with clarity, compassion and confidence, we would love to hear from you.
Send your CV to elisha@psinclusion.co.uk or call 0203 011 4848 for a confidential conversation.
