Why is this Learning Support Assistant role required?

I am working with a SEND school for pupils with SEMH. Based in the London Borough of Wandsworth, this beautiful school has amazing facilities and welcoming and close staff body. The school are seeking a number of Learning Support Assistants to join their team as other experienced LSAs progress in their roles.

We are looking for enthusiastic and positive Learning Support Assistants who understand the complexities of working with neurodiverse children and who have the skills and abilities to positively impact learning in SEND settings. You will need to be robust and resilient in your role and have a genuine desire to offer the best education to children who have significant and complex learning needs and behavioural disorders.

The school is led by their established and nurturing Headteacher who is integral to the support and wellbeing of their students and staff. They will consider those with no experience in this specialist setting, as long as you come with a positive approach and genuine desire to support neurodiverse children, you will be considered!

The children you will support will all have a diagnosis of SEMH. If you are committed to making a difference in SEND and you have a talent for working with children who have behavioural needs, we want to hear from you!

 

Learning Support Assistant requirements:

  • A passion for working with SEND is essential!
  • Some relevant SEND experience, even if this is growing up with a sibling or close relative with complex needs
  • Desired: Experience of working with children and young people with behavioural challenges and SEMH
  • Desired: Play therapy, Sensory Integration, PBS (positive behaviour support) experience
  • Nurturing and patient manner
  • Willing to be trained and support children with their personal care needs
  • Live a commutable distance either by bus or car, there are excellent public transport links and a big car park
