The role


I am looking for a Learning Support Assistant dedicated to supporting children with complex needs in an educational setting. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for helping children who have varying needs within a small classroom. The children at this school present with a range of learning needs with varying levels of support required. The school cater for children aged between 3 and 19 so whether you prefer working with primary or secondary age children, this role could be perfect for you! Each classroom holds nine students and has five to six support staff to ensure the safety of all pupils. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the planning of activities, monitoring pupil’s progress, intervening when necessary, providing relevant feedback to the classroom teacher, and performing general duties to support both learners and teacher.



The ideal candidate


Due to the nature of the needs that the pupils at this school have, a Learning Support Assistant with knowledge of the following is very beneficial but not essential; PMLD, SLD, personal care, hoisting, gastrostomy feeding and care, and seizure training.  If you have any experience in these fields, we would love to hear from you!

As well as this, a good Learning Support Assistant will be passionate, enthusiastic and really have a desire for working with young, vulnerable people. The Learning Support Assistant will truly be a positive role model and be passionate about setting good examples in everything they do. Having the ability to build a good rapport with students is essential and really makes you stand out as a great Learning Support Assistant!
