Role: Occupational Therapist (OT)

Location: West London

School: Large SEND school - SLD/MLD

Start date: September or sooner

Contract details: Band 5/6/7,  permanent full time/part-time

Salary : Scale 5 to PO5 - Equivalent to NHS Band 5, 6 or 7 (Depending upon skills, qualifications and experience)

 

I am looking for a band 5/6/7 Occupational Therapist to become part of a multidisciplinary therapy team.

I am  working with an established SEND school with an ethos of kindness and promotion of well-being, who are looking for passionate and hardworking Occupational Therapist to support children with various special educational needs including Autism (ASC), Speech and language communication needs (SLCN) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).

The school boast large facilities and various opportunities for the children to express themselves.

 

Requirements for this Occupational Therapist (OT)

  • To work as a school based Occupational Therapist, you will need to hold a recognised Occupational Therapy degree, be HCPC registered and a registered member of the British College of Occupational Therapists. 
  • Imaginative: It’s certainly worth keeping in mind that students may become discouraged during their treatment session so it’s important to remain imaginative to create a welcoming and accepting environment
  • Collaborative: It’s important to remain open to collaboration with your  students’ team
  • Versatile: You will be based across a case load of schools and provisions for SEND, age ranges from primary to secondary with a broad spectrum of additional needs
  • Patient: Students may react to their OT sessions differently or could even feel defeated at times. In any case, remaining patient to keep them assured of their progress and maintaining a positive attitude will help to encourage the student during their sessions
  • Communicative: Keeping open communication with your students will help to offer them clarity and comfort around their progress, ultimately leading to a sense of encouragement. As well as communicating with students, OTs should possess strong communication skills in order to adequately explain updates to the students’ team members such as other therapists, teachers, and parents
  • There are opportunities in their MDT Team for band 5/6/7 OT's. You will be supported by an experienced therapy lead and external supervision will be provided where necessary.
