Experienced Teaching Assistant / Outreach Tutor Needed for Home and Community-Based Tutoring in Kingston and Richmond

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) ready to take on a new and rewarding challenge? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to work as a tutor for children who are unable to learn in school settings.

Outreach Tutor's Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one teaching and support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Visit homes and public spaces in Kingston and Richmond to deliver personalised educational support.
  • Work with children from challenging backgrounds and deprived homes, some of whom may have experienced trauma and anxiety.
  • Manage and support children with dysregulated behaviour, fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment.

Outreach Tutor's Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), ideally with a background in SEN.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of children with Autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, and SEMH.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to managing challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to different environments.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred due to the nature of the role.

Working Hours and Pay:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm during term time.
  • £110 PAYE per day.
  • Weekly payment.

About the Children:

  • Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD): Children with SpLD have difficulties with particular aspects of learning, such as reading, writing, or maths, which can include conditions like dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dyspraxia.
  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs: Children with SEMH needs may struggle to manage their emotions, experience anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues, and may have difficulty with social interactions.

If you are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive outside of school settings, we would love to hear from you. Apply today and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with SEN.
