About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Classroom Teacher to lead a specialist provision class for autistic children within a mainstream primary school in North West London. This is a dedicated setting, currently supported by four skilled Teaching Assistants. The role requires a teacher with a strong background in Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly autism, who can offer structured, personalised learning while working toward the ultimate goal of reintegrating students into their year-group classrooms.
This is a key position within the school’s SEN team and will suit a candidate who is confident in delivering short, targeted lessons and managing a small but diverse class with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a specialist class for autistic children, supported by four experienced Teaching Assistants
Deliver short, focused lessons and targeted interventions in:
Phonics
Maths
Writing
Develop and implement individual learning plans, addressing both communication and academic development
Support students’ social integration and independence, with the long-term goal of reintegration into mainstream classrooms
Liaise closely with the SENCO, senior leadership, and external professionals to monitor progress and adapt provision accordingly
The Students
All students are autistic, with a range of needs from non-speaking to emerging language
