About the School and Primary Teaching Assistant opportunity

This friendly and creative primary school is based in North London, close to Islington. The school have an excellent track record of training teachers and support staff and have a wonderful and inclusive SLT.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will be linked to a particular child who requires additional support due to a SEN diagnosis. The school is a primary school and has a number of pupils with EHCPs for SEN joining in September, these pupils require a Teaching Assistant to support their learning and behaviour. You will support your student both in class and also providing 1:1 work outside of the classroom. The role would suit a passionate and dedicated primary SEN Teaching Assistant, ideally with experience in early years and supporting children with SEND. The child's needs may include learning difficulties, challenging behaviour including harming self and others, feeding difficulties, sleep difficulties, motor difficulties, and personal care needs, ASD, speech and language needs, and development delays. The right candidate would be nurturing and resilient, someone who can assist with behavioural regulation in a calm and patient manor.

  • Passionate about supporting pupils with SEND
  • Previous experience supporting young children with additional needs
  • Good understanding of behaviour strategies and co-regulation
  • Committed to personal development and learning specialist skills
  • Proactive and flexible
  • Ability to be a team player and build rapport quickly
  • Ideally a Graduate or someone with previous SEN experience either formal or informal
