Responsible to: Deputy Headteacher for Teaching and Learning

Location: Islington

Contract type: Temp to Perm

Are you an experienced SENCO, with secondary school experience, looking for a new challenge?

Are you enthusiastic, efficient, resilient, friendly, and focused on the needs of the child?

I am seeking an experienced and qualified SENCo to join a PRU based in Islington. The successful candidate will support the senior management team in creating a lasting improvement in the equality of education provision and the management of teaching and learning through the provision.

The position is full-time SENCo, you need to be flexible and adjust to the needs of the children, their families, and the school.

Summary of Duties

  • To promote the safeguarding of children
  • Working across both the primary and secondary PRUs
  • Assisting with the strategic development of SEN policy and provision
  • Support staff in understanding requirements of teaching a pupil with a EHCP
  • Complete SEN support plan for each child needing an EHCP
  • Work with all staff to develop effective ways of bridging barriers to learning through
  • Be aware of new resources available and consider a range of teaching strategies
  • Provide individual or small group teaching for pupils as appropriate
  • Ensure school systems fully comply with the statutory requirements of the new SEN Code of Practice
  • Monitor teaching and learning to ensure that teaching reflects the different needs of individuals
  • To line manage designated staff
