Residential Support Worker

Primary SEMH School

London Borough of Redbridge

£21000-£23000k per annum

I am working with a fantastic residential school in the London Borough of Redbridge which houses and educates students with educational statements and encourages them to reach their full potential. This school are seeking a School Based Support Worker to join their team of fantastic staff who work together to create a family feel; with their small class sizes and shared mealtimes, you’ll agree that they are exceeding expectations.

The School

  • Individual houses for students to live in Monday-Friday – with fully customised bedrooms and kitchens to create an independent and family feel
  • Academic timetable during the day with designated time in the evenings for activities such as swimming, bowling, cinema, sports etc
  • Excellent modern facilities, including a recording studio and music equipment, onsite swimming pool, and a private farm which students can enjoy

 

Responsibilities of a Support Worker

  • Split days of 7:30am – 9:30am, 2:30pm – 8:30pm
  • Working with individual students to develop their social, emotional and behavioural skills
  • Being responsible for the safety of the children, making sure they have a secure but stimulating setting where they can be involved in not only education but also leisure activities
  • Counsel the students in personal and social skills, including health, hygiene, domestic protocol and relationships - School Based Support Worker
  • Accompany children to various required visits such as doctors, shopping trips, dentist etc - School Based Support Worker
  • Observe the students and write reports to notify any required information

 

The ideal Support Worker

  • The ideal Support Worker should be empathetic and nurturing
  • Driving is preferred – even if you hold a full license but do not have a vehicle
  • Has experience or knowledge surrounding SEMH and can remain calm in challenging situations
  • Enjoys sport and doing outdoor activities
