Residential Care Officer SEMH Needed In Redbridge 

Primary SEMH School 

London Borough of Redbridge 

£21000 - £23000K Per Annum

The School  

We are working with a truly, phenomenal residential school based in the London borough of Redbridge, which is equipped with outstanding resources and staff! The school houses & educates students with SEN, and they are looking for a residential support worker to join the team! All of the staff here are dedicated to creating a real family feel, and their passion for inclusivity and support will blow you away! The school itself has individual houses for students to live in Monday-Friday – with fully customized bedrooms and kitchens to create an independent and family feel.  They have an academic timetable during the day with designated time in the evenings for activities such as swimming, bowling, cinema, sports etc. And on top of all that, they have truly excellent modern facilities, including a recording studio and music equipment, onsite swimming pool, and a private farm which students can enjoy 

The Role 

In this unique role as a residential support worker, you would work split days of 7:30am – 9:30am, and then 2:30pm – 8:30 pm. The role requires working with individual students to develop their social, emotional and behavioral skills.  

  • Working with individual students to develop their social, emotional and behavioural skills 

  • Being responsible for the safety of the children, making sure they have a secure but stimulating setting where they can be involved in not only education but also leisure activities 

  • Counsel the students in personal and social skills, including health, hygiene, domestic protocol and relationships - School Based Support Worker 

  • Accompany children to various required visits such as doctors, shopping trips, dentist etc - School Based Support Worker 

  • Observe the students and write reports to notify any required information  

The Ideal Support Worker 

The ideal person is empathetic and nurturing, with an understanding of SEMH and all of the challenges that come with it. They will be able to remail calm in challenging situations, and would be able to build and maintain strong relationships with the students. Whilst owning your own vehicle is not essential, having a driving license will be greatly preferred, as there are many leisure activities that can take place off site. If you enjoy sports, and doing outdoor activities, this is the role for you!
