School Based Occupational Therapist - Hammersmith and Fulham

About the Role of School Based Occupational Therapist:

As a school-based occupational therapist, you'll focus on addressing educational needs to enhance students' participation and performance in school. This involves addressing sensory and functional needs, as well as social skills. Based in SEND school settings, you'll take a holistic approach, assisting students in various tasks and helping them achieve their goals. Collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary clinical team, you'll provide intensive treatment services and engage children and young people in innovative therapeutic activities to support their learning and development.

Requirements for School Based Occupational Therapist:

To work in this role, you'll need a recognised Occupational Therapy degree, HCPC registration, and membership with the British College of Occupational Therapists. Solid experience, especially with vulnerable children or those with complex needs, is essential. Additionally, you should possess key qualities:

  • Imaginative: Creating a welcoming environment to encourage students' engagement.
  • Collaborative: Openness to collaboration with students' teams.
  • Patient: Maintaining patience to assure students of their progress.
  • Communicative: Strong communication skills to provide clarity and comfort to students and team members.

While this is a band 6/7 OT role, we welcome applications from overseas-trained and newly qualified OTs, with possible band 5 OT roles available once an experienced team is in place. School hours typically run from 8:30 am to 3:30/4 pm, offering a desirable work-life balance for those balancing family commitments or other projects.

About the SEND School:

This SEND school caters for students with Autism, providing education for children aged 4 - 19. With excellent leadership and well-equipped facilities, the school offers a positive and safe learning environment. Their provision for post-16 students focuses on teaching skills for independent living and transitioning to work or college life. Joining this school offers an opportunity to be part of something special and essential.
