About the School-Based Paediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) role

A school-based Paediatric Occupational Therapist aims to help vulnerable children and young people be as independent as possible. You will look at the whole child, tackling individual tasks and helping children find ways to do what they need and want to do. You will also liaise closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists (SaLT), and teaching/support staff. You will engage with the children and young people within the school in innovative, helpful therapeutic and meaningful activities, supporting them in learning and reaching their full potential.

Occupational Therapist Requirements

  • You must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy degree and be HCPC registered
  • You will need solid experience, ideally working with highly vulnerable children and young people or children with Autism / ASC, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
  • Overseas-trained and newly qualified Band 5 Occupational Therapists are welcome to apply!
  • In line with NHS band scales, however, please note that sometimes your salary will be pro-rated as it is term-time only. The working hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm, so for our OTs looking for work-life balance, this is a huge benefit. This also benefits our OTs who work privately or like to have free time to work on other projects!
