SEMH Secondary Teacher

Long-term temporary and permanent opportunities

We are currently working with a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school based in North London. The school support pupils from key stage 1 – 4 in a nurturing, attachment-aware, safe environment. They focus on supporting pupils’ mental health through a therapeutic approach and have access to many therapeutic interventions.

They are seeking a passionate and experienced SEMH Teacher to join their Secondary site in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Mental Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering high-quality lessons, providing pastoral care and support, and helping students to develop their academic, social, and emotional skills.

What the school will expect from you;

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons tailored to meet the needs of the students with SEMH needs.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to parents and colleagues
  • Work with other professionals to develop and implement individual education plans
  • To be experienced and comfortable with challenging behaviour
  • Having a therapeutic approach
  • Develop positive and trusting relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and manage challenging behaviour effectively.

Requirements for the role of Secondary SEMH Teacher;

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in a similar setting, ideally experience working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • To work as part of a team, build positive relationships with students and parents
