The role

 

I am looking for a teaching assistant seeking a new opportunity to work in a school specialising in SEMH needs. This school really believes that every young person has the right to the best possible education and a chance to succeed. The teaching assistant role will include assisting with the planning of activities, monitoring pupil’s progress, intervening when necessary, providing relevant feedback to the classroom teacher, and performing general teaching assistant duties.

As a teaching assistant you should also feel confident to deal with conflicts and incidents that arise in the classroom and be able to handle these in a safe and appropriate manner.

 

 

The ideal candidate

 

This school specialises in SEMH needs. For this reason, the ideal teaching assistant must have a genuine passion for working with young, vulnerable people. You should be empathetic and have the emotional intelligence to support students who may be in crisis. You should be someone who is a positive role model and spread positivity! Having the ability to build good rapports both with young people and the classroom teacher would be most beneficial as good relationships are key to succeed.
