Graduate Teaching Assistant - London Borough of Merton

 

I have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to become part of our friendly and highly reputable SEN school in the London Borough of Merton.

 

Highlights:

  • Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant
  • Start Date: ASAP / Mid-February
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm (during term-time)
  • Daily Rate: £80 to £95 (depending on experience) PAYE

 

About the School:

  • Reputable SEN school with a focus on Autism and Autism Spectrum, complex needs, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Small class sizes (up to 8 children) to ensure personalised attention

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in play-based activities such as arts and crafts, music, and sports
  • Provide life skills to prepare for their adulthood
  • Assist in hydrotherapy sessions, requiring comfort with getting into the pool
  • Support children with medical needs and those who are wheelchair users
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address complex behaviour challenges
  • Provide assistance with personal care, with relevant training provided

Requirements:

  • Genuine passion for working with young people with special educational needs
  • Willingness to engage in play-based and creative activities
  • Aspiring Educational Psychologists, Child Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Therapists, Counsellors, and Teachers are welcome to apply!
  • Comfortable with hydrotherapy and assisting with personal care (training provided)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not mandatory
