SEN Teacher – KS3

Location: Tower Hamlets

Salary: MPS - £160-£230 per day PAYE

Start: September 2023

I am seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join a wonderful specialist school in Tower Hamlets. The classrooms would consist of 10 students, all with additional needs, in the classroom, there will be preverbal students who are of the age group of KS3 who are following an adapted curriculum on the engagement model. The students are pre-verbal and following an adapted curriculum, this would be a play based and interactive way of teaching. We are looking for a SEN Teacher who has the knowledge of teaching KS3 students with different SEN including autism and knowing the best way of teaching and keeping the students engaged.

Responsibilities of SEN Teachers -KS3

  • SEN Teacher must be able to develop individualized education plans for each student based on their unique needs and abilities
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the specific needs of each student
  • Ideally would have experience of teaching KS3 students
  • Create a safe and nurturing learning environment that promotes inclusivity and diversity
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and development
  • SEN Teachers must attend and participate in relevant meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions

Requirements of SEN Teachers - KS3

  • Ideally, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent or Experience teaching in a SEN school
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly autism and/or learning difficulties
  • Ideally experience working/teaching students of KS3 age 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including the SEND Code of Practice
  • Ability to develop and implement effective teaching strategies for students with diverse needs and abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning
