SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Specialism

  • Borehamwood, Hertfordshire

  • £400 - £450 per week PAYE only

  • ASAP Start | Full-Time (Monday to Friday) | Term Time Only

I work with an excellent special needs school in and around Borehamwood, seeking passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join them as soon as possible!

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to gain practical and clinical experience working with students in small group settings.

What you can expect as a SEN Teaching Assistant / Autism Teaching Assistant

  • Your role as a SEN Teaching Assistant will be to support students with special needs, particularly with Autism/ASC, complex needs, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This role will vary from day to day; you will be expected to use your initiative and respond calmly in challenging situations.

  • For aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Counsellors, and Social Workers, these positions will offer relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path.

  • You will have an opportunity as a SEN Teaching Assistant / Autism Teaching Assistant to make a substantial social impact as a specialist SEN Teaching Assistant.

  • You will have an advantage in applying for permanent positions whilst working in the school.

SEN Teaching Assistant requirements

  • Genuine passion for working with young people who require additional support in order to access education and social development

  • Ideally, previous experience (formal or informal) supporting children with autism or other special educational needs

  • A proactive and positive individual always striving to meet children's learning needs.

  • Ability to build rapport with children
