Are you an experienced SENCO, with secondary school experience, looking for a new challenge or to specialise in SEMH/ASC?

I am seeking an experienced and qualified SENCo to join a supportive team of professionals, including a multidisciplinary clinical team, who are committed to supporting young people with complex SEMH and autism. You will work across the age range of the school (7– 19 years of age with a focus on KS3 and 4) and will be passionate about driving forward improvements in provision for all children. Other necessary qualities include confidentiality, efficiency, being able to work on your own initiative when under pressure and a willingness to contribute to the continued improvement of this wonderful Alternative Provision. This school supports the education of highly vulnerable children with SEMH, they are recognised for their high standards of holistic and Therapeutic care.

The position is full-time SENCo. You need to be flexible and adjust to the needs of the children, their families and the school.

What is required?

  • QTS/QTLS
  • National Award for SEN Coordination.
  • Experience of liaising with SEN Teams in Local Authorities.
  • Experience of coordinating pupil centred annual reviews and providing timely reports.
  • Experience of supporting neurodiverse children or with ASC and/or SEMH
  • Demonstrable experience of raising outcomes for pupils with neuro-diverse needs
  • Working knowledge of Safeguarding & Child Protection Procedures
  • Be able to offer a calm response to children with ASC and SEMH and always promote de-escalation and emotional regulation.
